    Modern transformers use mineral oil, natural ester oils such as FR3 and Biotemp, synthetic ester oils like MIDEL, and silicone oils. Mineral oil is most common due to cost and performance balance. Ester and silicone oils are selected for higher fire safety, biodegradability, and use in indoor or environmentally sensitive locations.
