Typical secondary output ranges are 8,000 to 12,000 volts AC, with many systems using around 10,000 volts nominal. Secondary current is low but sufficient to sustain a spark across the electrode gap under burner conditions. Output requirements vary by burner model, electrode design, and the ignition control strategy. Some modern electronic igniters produce different waveforms, but traditional ignition transformers still cluster in the same voltage range because that level reliably ionizes air and ignites the fuel spray.
