To test a power transformer with a multimeter, first ensure the transformer is disconnected from power. Set the multimeter to the resistance (ohms) setting. Measure the primary winding by connecting the probes to the input terminals and note the resistance. Repeat this for the secondary winding. Compare the readings to the transformer’s specifications; significant deviations may indicate a fault. Additionally, check for short circuits by measuring resistance between windings and between windings and the core.
