A transformer in a power station works by transferring electrical energy between two or more circuits through electromagnetic induction. It consists of primary and secondary coils wrapped around a magnetic core. When alternating current flows through the primary coil, it creates a magnetic field that induces a voltage in the secondary coil. This allows for voltage transformation-either stepping up or stepping down voltage levels-enabling efficient long-distance power transmission and distribution.
