The Alcap system of oil purification is used in maritime and industrial applications to clean oil by separating water and sludge from the oil. This system uses a centrifuge that detects the density difference between oil and water, adjusting automatically to ensure proper separation. It continuously purifies the oil by spinning at high speed, forcing water and contaminants to the periphery, which are then drained, while clean oil is recirculated back.

Transformer oil purification equipment works by filtering out solid particles, removing moisture, and degassing the oil. The equipment heats the oil to reduce its viscosity, then passes it through fine filters to remove debris. Vacuum dehydration is used to remove water, while degassing chambers eliminate dissolved gases. This restores the oil’s dielectric strength and cooling properties, ensuring the transformer operates efficiently.

Crude oil purification is performed through a process called refining, which involves separating and purifying the various hydrocarbons in crude oil. This is done through fractional distillation, where the crude oil is heated, and different components are separated based on their boiling points. Further processes, such as catalytic cracking and hydrocracking, may be used to break down larger molecules into smaller, more useful ones. After distillation, impurities like sulfur are removed through treatments like desulfurization.

In transformers, oils for purification are treated through specialized equipment that removes contaminants. Purified oil improves the transformer’s performance by restoring its ability to insulate and dissipate heat, preventing failures and extending the transformer’s operational life.
