The transformer produces high voltage at its secondary and delivers it to the ignition electrodes through insulated leads. When the voltage exceeds the air gap breakdown threshold, a consistent arc forms at the electrode tips. Reliability depends on sufficient secondary voltage, stable current, and good insulation so energy is not lost through leakage paths. Clean electrodes, correct gap, and proper grounding ensure the spark occurs where it should. Burner controls coordinate timing so ignition occurs during proper fuel spray conditions and shuts down safely if flame is not proven.
