Vacuum degassing of oil works by heating the oil and placing it in a vacuum chamber where the pressure is significantly reduced. The reduced pressure lowers the boiling point of water and gases, causing them to evaporate from the oil. The evaporated gases and moisture are extracted by vacuum pumps, leaving the oil free of dissolved gases and moisture. This process is particularly important for improving the insulating and cooling properties of transformer oil.
