Silicone oil is degassed by placing it in a vacuum chamber and applying low pressure. The vacuum causes dissolved gases to evaporate from the silicone oil. The oil is often heated during the process to lower its viscosity, making it easier for trapped gases to escape. This is important in applications like electronics or medical devices where pure, gas-free silicone oil is needed for optimal performance.
