In a transformer, the power input to the primary winding is converted to power output in the secondary winding through electromagnetic induction. When alternating current flows through the primary coil, it creates a magnetic field that induces a voltage in the secondary coil. Ideally, the power input (P = VI for voltage and current) in the primary equals the power output in the secondary, minus any losses, ensuring efficient energy transfer.
