Oil type transformers use liquid insulation and cooling oil, allowing higher power density, better heat dissipation, and suitability for outdoor and high-voltage applications. Dry type transformers use solid insulation and air cooling, offering lower fire risk and minimal maintenance, but are limited in power rating and typically used indoors or in sensitive environments.
