DGA detects partial discharge, low and high temperature overheating, insulation degradation, and electrical arcing. Hydrogen indicates partial discharge, methane and ethane suggest low temperature faults, ethylene points to high temperature overheating, and acetylene signals arcing. Carbon monoxide and dioxide indicate paper insulation aging. DGA allows early fault detection before external symptoms appear.
