Power transformers mainly use mineral insulating oil, which provides good dielectric strength, cooling performance, and cost efficiency. In addition, natural ester oils and synthetic ester oils are increasingly used for improved fire safety and environmental performance. Silicone oil is applied in special installations requiring very high fire resistance. The oil type is selected based on voltage level, fire risk, environmental regulations, climate conditions, and transformer manufacturer recommendations.
